WitP: Ingram Released, Owens Player of the Month
Jake Ingram was released by the Patriots today.
Jake Ingram's recent inconsistencies have cost him his job.In some better news, Chad Owens was named CFL Special Teams Player of the Month again.
The Patriots second-year long snapper was released Tuesday, according to agent Wynn Silberman, after Ingram struggled over the last month.
In a related move, the Patriots signed long snapper Matt Katula, according to a source and his agency's Twitter account. Katula, who signed a two-year deal with the Patriots, was with the Ravens from 2005-10.
For the second consecutive month, dynamic Argos’ WR/KR Chad Owens has been named CFL Special Teams Player of the Month. Owens has already set a club record for being named CFL Player of the Week six-times (weeks 2, 7, 12, 14, 17 and 18), and is now a two-time CFL Special Teams Player of the Month (September & October) in 2010. He was a unanimous selection for this month’s award.
In five (5) games during October, Owens shredded opposing special teams coverage units. He accounted for 1,090 total kick return yards and scored a 109-yard missed field goal return touchdown against Winnipeg.
