Idaho Review, Prepping for Boise

Dave Reardon reviews five big plays from UH's 45-10 victory over Idaho in this week's Warrior Replay.

Stephen Tsai writes about UH preparing for Boise State.
The coordinators worked deep into the night preparing the game plan for Saturday's showdown against unbeaten Boise State. The assistant coaches stopped in the office to have their laptop computers loaded with video cut-ups of this past Saturday's 45-10 rout of Idaho. At their homes, they will work on the presentations they will deliver during position meetings this morning and late afternoon.

While the Warriors met the top item on their to-do list — earn a berth in a postseason bowl — they now are focusing on winning the Western Athletic Conference title.
Ferd Lewis highlights the forced turnovers the UH defense is creating this season.
After ranking No. 113 (among 120 teams) in turnover margin last year, and with the rise to No. 7 today, the defense understands the reversal isn't just the football gods suddenly smiling heavenly kindness upon the Warriors.

"We're about making plays," Silva said.

"It is why we are winning," adds Paredes.
And Dave Reardon talks to former UH coach Bob Wagner, who shares his thoughts on the upcoming game.
He says Hawaii can win at Boise State on Saturday — even though the Warriors opened yesterday as 27-point underdogs.

"I would think so. They've shown they can score points and slow people down. Having an experienced quarterback who is talented helps," Wagner says. "You're going to win a lot of games if you're plus (on turnovers). We only lost one or two when we won the turnover battle, and that was San Diego State with Marshall Faulk.

"The (Hawaii) offense is taking better care of the ball this year. I would be surprised if they win the turnover battle by two and don't win. The problem is Boise doesn't turn it over much.

"It does help Boise that they've got those extra days, but I think Hawaii has an excellent chance."
