WitP: Elam, Laboy, LP

Bad news for Jason Elam as he was released by the Atlanta Falcons today.
Veteran kicker Jason Elam felt that he had one more miss before the Falcons would release him.

He was correct.

The missed 43-yard field goal on Sunday against Tampa Bay was his last miss for the Falcons. The legendary kicker and Bryan Pittman, the team's long snapper, were both released on Tuesday.
Elam has missed seven field goals this season after making 29 of 31 attempts in 2008.
More bad news as ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted that Travis LaBoy, who is currently a free agent, has been suspended for four games by the NFL.
Free-agent DE Travis LaBoy was suspended four games. Suspension will begin immediately and will last until NFL reinstates LaBoy.
And finally some good news, as former UH safety Leonard Peters was praised by his rugby coach.
The USA sevens side may have been regarded as a soft touch on their past trips to the UAE, but their opponents at this weekend’s Dubai Rugby Sevens had better prepare themselves for a shock, according to their coach.

Al Caravelli is set to unleash his side’s new secret weapon onto the world stage when the tournament starts tomorrow, and their pool opponents – England, Kenya and Russia – had better take heed: He tackles like a “Mack truck”.

An International Rugby Board world series event is a tough baptism of fire for someone who only took up the game five months ago, but Leonard Peters already has an impressive sporting pedigree to call upon.
As a defensive back, he has adapted quickly to rugby’s destructive side, and his tackling skills are “beyond exceptional”, in the opinion of his new boss.

“He has great footwork and he hits like a Mack truck,” added the former Argentina and US sevens player Caravelli.
