Alex Gerke to Utah State
Assistant coach Alex Gerke will no longer workie for UH.
Alex Gerke, who helped coach the offensive line and the running backs for the University of Hawaii this past season, will leave to take an assistant coaching position at Utah State.
UH head coach Greg McMackin said he will not fill Gerke's position until after the recruiting season in February.UPDATE: Here's Jason Kaneshiro's story about it, while Dave Reardon writes that this was in the works for a couple weeks.
We were told last night that UH running backs coach Alex Gerke was on his way out of Manoa for a few weeks, and that yesterday he was at Utah State formalizing his hiring there. It had nothing to do with the loss to Notre Dame.

Other than Estes and AhSoon, he sucked at coaching players to be good and reach potential. There's a reason Samson made the NFL and its because this guy wasn't coaching him

Wasn't Gerke's primary responsibility at running backs? I thought he assisted Brian Smith at O-Line. I think that's what was said before the season started.
