2008 Schedule Update

Dave Reardon reports that Herman Frazier says the 2008 schedule is done.
The final regular-season game will be Dec. 6 at Aloha Stadium against a school from a BCS conference, following a Nov. 29 home game against Washington State, the AD said.

Frazier also said he has come to agreement with a Division I-AA team to play at Aloha Stadium on Sept. 6, in between road games at Florida and Oregon State.
This is great news! However...
He declined to name the teams.

"I know who the teams are and I've released all the other teams that I was talking to. We expect to do the announcement soon," Frazier said.
Another announcement to announce an announcement? Ugh, bad memories flooding back! I feel like Sloth in The Goonies!

Mama: "Rock-a-bye baby, on the tree top, when the bough breaks the cradle will fall."

Sloth: "Break?!!? Fall?!?!"

Mama: "No no, I only dropped you once!"

Sloth: "Aaaaagghh!!!"

Mama: "Well, maybe twice. No Sloth! Put me down!"

Speaking of all that, Frazier responds to critics of this year's schedule.
The criticism includes signs at home games calling for his firing.

"I don't pay attention to that. I don't know they're there, I don't look at them," Frazier said. "I've been in collegiate athletics 29 years. There's always going to be critics no matter what you do."
Yes yes, away with you, rapscallions. I dismiss you with a wave of the hand! La la la la la!

Here's more from Michael Tsai:
When?

"Soon," Frazier said. "We know who the teams are. They've accepted, but we still have some things to clear up."
Frazier was roundly criticized this year for missing self-imposed deadlines for the 2007 schedule and for scheduling 12 games instead of 13.

"We already know what happened this past year, but bygones are bygones — it's over," Frazier said.
Let's hope so...

so HF, why do you hide in the pressbox and not walk around on the sidelines like you had been in previous years.
why do you only come down with 2 minutes left in the game and hide?
if you're not afraid, take your boos like a man.

    1. Get HF to set a known deadline for completing each of the schedules for 2009, 2010 and 2012.

    2. "I don't pay attention to that. I don't know they're there, I don't look at them," Frazier said. "I've been in collegiate athletics 29 years. There's always going to be critics no matter what you do." It is so like HF to totally disregard the UH fans--when is he going to see the writing on the wall? Maybe his opinion of "there's always going to be critics no matter what you do" is because HF has always been screwing up for 29 years and thus he is always open for criticisms. Why doesn't he take a new approach, recognize the fans and finally try to do a good job--then he may find people happy with him.

    3. "We already know what happened this past year, but bygones are bygones — it's over," Frazier said. It's over in his mind for this year--what about the future years?

    4. "When I accepted this position, one thing I said was I wanted to do out-of-the-box type things," Frazier said. Maybe HF should go back to concentrating on timely completion of "in the box" normal items first before doing other things. Or he could give up being the Athletic Director and do the out-of-the-box things to keep him busy--who am I kidding?

Note that the $500,000 for the facility rental covers only two years of his overpaid salary!

I would love to agree with him, the past IS the past...but why does he have to say the EXACT same thing as last year in regards to the schedule?

I'm pretty sure they are word for word duplicates.

actually, i was gonna try to find the quotes from last year/earlier this year and place em side by side with these quotes, but i realized it would just piss me off. but if someone wants to post that scene from goonies on youtube or something, i would definitely post that.
