Week In Review

Kalani Simpson writes a stirring tribute to Coach Glanville and his reasons for coming back to coaching.

A two part interview with June Jones. Here's the second part. I don't know why they split em up. They're both kinda short.

UH adds two more receivers, David Kaihenui and Aaron Bain.

Mighty Mouse to sign, I mean has signed with the Jaguars.

The WAC has rebranded. Their new slogan is "Play Up". What the eff does that mean?

UH and Fresno State in talks to play a non-conference game in Japan.

A profile on Leonard Peters. In the article, Dave Reardon takes a swipe at "anonymous observers on the Internet and radio" who criticized Timmy Chang. First off, I love Timmy Chang. Secondly, at least I don't enjoy tickling people's butts with my fu man chu.

In other news, Stephen Tsai writes that NFL Films and ESPN are working on separate documentaries featuring the UH football team.

Coach Jones

June Jones opens up, and I already miss that hairy caterpillar he used to wear on his upper lip.

Jerry Glanville

Looks like Coach Glanville will bring more aggressiveness to the team this year, which should be fun to watch. I hope nobody has to wear a combat helmet in practice though. That's kinda nuts.

Defensive Line

Amazingly, the Star-Bulletin and Advertiser both have stories on incoming defensive linemen, but they're not about the same lineman. The Advertiser writes that Reagan Mauia, a 330 pound lineman who can go both ways, is transferring from San Joaquin Delta College this coming fall. The Star-Bulletin writes that Amani Purcell, Mel Purcell's brother, will be transferring from Penn State this fall but will have to sit out this season.

Jazen Anderson

A new running back for UH to underutilize. EDIT: My apologies for this flippant post. The running back in the UH offense is an important blocker and pass catcher. Just because he may get 10-12 rushes a game does not mean he's being underutilized.

The Players Are Confident

They are looking forward to playing USC. Can you smell upset? I sure can. Smells like kim chee. Or ass. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference. But both is good for the soul.
